I tell stories about people, places and the forces shaping our world.
My ApproachAcross broadcasting, podcasts, writing and live events, I bring journalistic curiosity to subjects spanning geopolitics, travel, culture and human behaviour.
Media Work
-
My broadcast work spans television, radio, and podcasts — from BBC Radio 4 documentaries to Discovery Channel expeditions.
On BBC Radio 4, I've made documentaries investigating why Ukraine captured the world's sympathy (How Ukraine Made Us Care), what NATO expansion really means (NATO's Newest Member), and whether Britain's Army is fit for purpose (Britain's Shrinking Army). I filmed Levison Wood's Walking the Nile for Channel 4 and presented Expedition Borderlands, a four-part series tracing the India-Pakistan border for Discovery Channel. I'm the resident travel expert on BBC One's ‘Morning Live’ and a regular contributor to Monocle Radio, Sky News, and Channel 5.
-
My podcasts range from investigating Russian subversion along Europe's eastern border in Edgelands for The Telegraph, to immersive travel dispatches in The First Mile with Pip Stewart, and applied leadership with the British Army in The Human Advantage.
-
I write about the forces that shape human behaviour, from geopolitics and conflict to travel, culture, and leadership, for some of the world's most respected publications.
My book Why We Travel was The Independent's Travel Book of the Year 2024. It's a blend of memoir, research, and reporting that explores human motivation and psychology through the lens of travel.
I regularly write for national and international titles including The Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, Condé Nast Traveller, The Spectator, Wanderlust, and Monocle, covering everything from geopolitics and defence to adventure, culture, and identity.

I am available for hire as an on-stage interviewer, session host, storyteller, and panellist.
My experience includes hosting The Moth StorySlam nights in London and The Moth MainStage at The Union Chapel, London. I’ve chaired panels for the Centre for Army Leadership and tour operators, and hosted the British Guild of Travel Writers gala.
I’ve been a session host and interviewer at Hay Festival, Stanford Travel Writers Festival, Wilderness, Latitude, Kendal Mountain Festival, Destinations, and Telegraph Travel Show.
I also regularly appear on panels at literary, travel, and defence and security events, including The Wainwright Prize, Cheltenham Literature Festival, and Cheltenham Science Festival.

I produce first-person, journalistic branded content that combines authentic storytelling with the objectives of the brands I work with. My experience spans tour operators, destinations, outfitters and travel companies, creating engaging video and editorial content for social channels, publishers and broadcasters.
Drawing on my background as an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and storyteller, I approach branded partnerships with the same curiosity and credibility as my editorial work, finding genuine stories that connect brands with audiences without losing the authenticity that makes them worth watching in the first place.
